Let’s Talk Pot – Do you use marijuana?

Posted March 15th, 2014 by Jared  •  Comments (41)

I really want to get the community together and have a good, open and honest discussion about cannabis, so I’ve decided to create a series of articles called “Let’s Talk Pot”. Each week I will post an article like this and ask few questions. Please use our comment system below to answer the questions and join the conversation!

We’ll go ahead and start this off would some pretty simple ones:

Do you use marijuana? Is it for medicinal or recreational purposes? If medicinal, what condition(s) do you use it to treat? What’s your favorite way to use it? (i.e. bong, vape, blunt, etc.)

Oh, and here are some guidelines for the discussion:

  • Feel free to use a pseudonym for your name, if you wish to remain anonymous.
  • Your email address will never be published and is only used for moderation purposes.
  • Please refrain from using excessive foul language.
  • Do not insult those who oppose your view. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It is up to us to change the opinion of those who oppose legalization, and attacking them is not the right way to do it.

utah definitely needs to get with the program and legalize it soon! at least for medical purposes..

i use it daily for my back pains and anxiety and it helps a lot more than what the doc prescribes – oxy and xanax.. with pot i can actually function and am not completely zombified!

I use it for anxiety and back pain it’s time for Utah to grow up and realize that a plant is better than something someone in a lab can make for medicine but also is better for recreational use than alcohol no one beats there wife and kids because they smoked too much

I have been self medicating with cannabis in the beehive state for several years, and I am not afraid to use my real name here. Cannabis is the only thing that has any effect on my pain, and I can remain functional while using it. There has only been a handful of days in the past year that I haven’t had a puff before going to work, and I can still so my job when I have medicated. Marijuana is a wonderful plant that has soooo much potential, from helping pain suffers like myself to killing cancer, and nearly everything in between.

New studies show that smoked Marijuana does not cause any forms of lung cancer, and that the THC in Marijuana is anti-cancerous and has the potential to cure cancer…
1,500 Americans die every day from cancer.
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=THC+cures+cancer
“The active ingredient in marijuana cuts tumor growth in common lung cancer in half and significantly reduces the ability of the cancer to spread.” – Harvard University
“The potential benefits of medicinal Cannabis for people living with cancer include antiemetic effects, appetite stimulation, pain relief, and improved sleep. In the practice of integrative oncology, the health care provider may recommend medicinal Cannabis not only for symptom management but also for its possible direct antitumor effect.” – National Cancer Institute
Marijuana cures cancer — US government has known since 1974:
The Federal Government of the United States has funded several studies on Cannabis and the active components in Marijuana, which have repeatedly discovered Cannabis’ Anti-Tumor properties. A couple of these studies include one conducted in the early 1970′s showing a reduction in the spread of various cancers injected into lab rats. In 2006 a study aiming to find the link between Marijuana smoking and cancer concluded that there is no evidence of any kind of causal link between the two, with even some suggestion of preventive qualities.
New research shows that marijuana components fight an aggressive form of brain cancer. And the media says — nothing, again. Combining the two most common cannabinoid compounds in Cannabis may boost the effectiveness of treatments to inhibit the growth of brain cancer cells and increase the number of brain cancer cells that die off. That’s the finding of a new study published in the latest issue of the journal Molecular Cancer Therapeutics. Marijuana components have been found to inhibit the growth of the most common, and aggressive form of brain tumor, a glioblastoma, according to a study published in the January 6 issue of Molecular Cancer Therapeutics. The study was done at the California Pacific Medical Center by researchers who combined a non-psychoactive ingredient of marijauna, cannabidiol (CBD), with Δ9-tetrahyrdocannabinol (Δ9-THC), the primary psychoactive ingredient in Cannabis. The findings demonstrated the inhibitory effect of these two ingredients on brain cancer cells when used together.

I do use it recreationally, when hanging out and before concerts/movies like a lot of people do. But I also use it for medical purposes. I can proudly say that I no longer take any medication for my anxiety, insomnia, and severe arthritis. Let me tell you all that I’m 23 now, and at the age of 20-21 I was on a handful of pain medications, Buspar and another for anxiety, and ambien. Ever since i started using ganja as medicine, I slowly quit taking the pills they wanted me on until I am where I am now.

I am a recreational smoker. I wish I had safe and ready access to quality pot here in Utah. I moved here from California about four years ago and have not purchased any pot since my move. I don’t know people on that level here and WISH I could get my hands on some. I gave up drinking about a year ago because I acknowledged that I would drink just for the affect of taking the edge off, but I don’t like the taste or aftermath. I prefer pot hands down. I am also interested in the legalization of pot in Utah and would like to offer my help, be it volunteer or paid work, to move the effort forward. I speak two languages, understand three and have a Master’s degree. I have over 15 years of experience management, customer service, training, etc.
